MEDICAL BUSINESS CONSULTING (MBC) is a full-service medical billing and revenue cycle management company established in 1993. With over 3 decades of service, MBC and has been the longest, continually operating medical billing company in Minnesota working exclusively with physical medicine practitioners such as Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. MBC currently offers services to health care providers in Minnesota and surrounding states.
MBC has maintained controlled and steady growth during this time, which has allowed us to continue to deliver the highest quality of service while personally managing each client’s accounts. Keeping client’s costs low and our service levels high are MBC’s top priorities.

Our Founder
After many years working in Physical Therapy and Chiropractic clinics (including the Northwestern Health Sciences University campus clinic), Catherine Hammond quickly discovered that small individual provider clinics were in need of specialized expertise for their billing and collections tasks. With the desire to help these providers, Cathi founded MEDICAL BUSINESS CONSULTING (MBC) in 1993.
In addition to working closely with each of our clients, Ms. Hammond has written many articles for the Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA), Chiro Care of Minnesota (now Fulcrum Health) and the Minnesota Acupuncture Association (MAA). She has also presented numerous seminars and webinars on coding, insurance billing, HIPAA compliance basics, and transitioning to ICD-10 for these organizations as well as NWHSU students and interns.
For her many contributions to the Minnesota Chiropractic Association, Ms. Hammond was awarded the President’s Award (2011) for “exemplary service above and beyond the call”, and the Claudius Galen Award (2012) for “outstanding and dedicated service given unselfishly towards the growth, education, and advancement of the chiropractic profession.”
Ms. Hammond earned her degree in Sports Medicine Technology in 1989 and also has experience with insurance billing and collections for other specialties including hospital, Physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation), family practice, and spine surgeons. She continues to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing regulations surrounding medical billing, coding, and HIPAA to ensure MBC’s clients stay compliant.
When she’s not working hard for our clients, Cathi can usually be found in her garden, researching her family genealogy, or enjoying time with her husband and rescued Golden Retriever.
